What are your UCAS choices? Briefly explain why you have chosen these courses/universities.

List them in order of preference if you can.

I chose this course and uni because:

-in London

-uni has a large workshop

-I want to be able to put myself in a environment where the teaching is focused on my course

-wasn’t able to experience the class at the open day due to tutor not being present

2 Graphic Design

-a bit tight perhaps

-small campus

5 (optional)

During the Foundation, you learn to evaluate your progress, reflect on where you are and so decide on the best way to move forward. The following list of questions is intended to help you to consider your experiences in Graphic Design and to clarify your thoughts about your creativity, development and working process. Your answers should help you to plan your next steps, and should be used to inform your personal statement. It would also be really helpful to you to look again at the critical reflection that you write at the end of each project brief.

During the past few weeks:

1. What have been your successes?

(At least 3)

-I am able to image a clearer future as a professional artist/designer through the talks I have attended

-I am able to image a clearer image of being a university student and deeply studying and exploring topics

-I have gotten used to living in London and am very comfortable in this culture

-I have experienced how to use the workshops and have a wide variety of works I want to work on using these workshops

-I am able to reflect and evaluate my works to be more productive

-I am confident in my decision that Graphic Design is the area I would like to explore

-I am confident that Fine Art is DEFINITELY not for me

2. What have been your frustrations?

(At least 3)

-I am never satisfied with my work

-I look at other people’s work and feel frustrated at myself that I couldn’t think up of that idea

-I don’t know if I am doing enough

-I am not sure if I am learning enough about Graphic Design to understand the concept

-I am very very scared of writing my personal statement for UCAS!

3. What have you discovered about Graphic Design? How would you describe your work, your approach, your preferences in the context of graphic design?

(At least 3 points)

I have discovered:

-it is a very very wide area and any medium is accepted

-I like it

-though communicating the idea is important, bringing out and preserving your own style is just as important as well

I would describe my work as:

-slightly humorous

-simple

-thought, process>final product

-not much colours

My approaches are:

-to make a mood board according to the topic of the work and visualise the idea

-research on past works and get inspiration on idea

-reread the brief and think what the topic is asking for, what points to include in my works and what to emphasise

My preferences are:

-non-political

-humorous

-meaning-based

-light hearted

6. What are you reading (any format, online as well as printed material)? What exhibitions have you seen? What book / film / exhibition would you recommend to me? Why?

I am reading:

-a book on emotional intelligence

I have seen:

-the movie ‘JOKER’

-a few Bollywood movies

-the national portrait gallery

-the V&A

I would recommend:

-a Bollywood movie names ‘QUEEN’. Very fun movie!!

-I recommend it because it is very cold and dark lately and this movie will give you lots of warmth while watching it!! The movie isn’t perfectly made, but that is one reason why it is so funny. Watching it with a friend is also recommended!

7. What is the most exciting thing that you have seen recently? Why?

I went to Covent Garden to buy some tea packets for friends for Christmas. There was a street performer getting bothered by a drunk man. The drunk man was kicking down equipment and taking the mike while people were shouting at him. Other drunk men on rooftop pubs were yelling him to “F*** off mate!” And “Who are you!!??” While the heckler were signing to them to go drink with him. The performer took this situation to his benefit and was saying jokes such as; he’s my ex-boyfriend he’s very jealous now. I found this all very very amusing and was laughing by myself with my tea packets in my bag.

Please answer all of these questions. Try to use some of these ideas in your personal statement.

You could consider uploading your answers onto your Blog.
