Just My Type-review and reflect

Updated: Feb 18, 2020

I researched about the font's controversy on the overuse of it. It was useful that I knew the transition to digital typography led to less usage of the font. Because it gave me inspiration for my work. It went beyond books and the internet in the way that I was able to think about the font's usage, commercialism, and 'bringing things back'.

I approached it by first having a clear image and coming up with multiple ideas on how to make it true. I think I was focused on making a filter or a frame. Maybe I could have considered more. I experimented on only one idea. I think using woodwork was a familiar thing to me, but acetate was new!

Because I wanted to make a frame? Acetate can't print, way too expensive, size difference, remade one frame, couldn't stick on, stapled on, didn't know what to do, got feedback and tutor's help.

Did I keep record of everything, yup. Maybe I should have taken more picture of the building process as well. Oh well.

I managed my time quite well during the whole project. Maybe could have worked a bit more harder, but I thought I was working hard at that moment so it doesn't matter. I could have changed on thinking about how to exhibit it in such a tight and crowded place when I had time.

I think the three important things I learned over the course of this project is that:

-I should just figure out what I would REALLY like to make while staying to the topic

-think about presentation a bit more

-Explore more about materials and techniques
